I had this weird artsy belt made of bronze-esque medallion type thingys. It could have been a cool accessory... but it just wasn't. I simply didn't like it on my body as much as I liked in the store. Beyond that, I have no explanation as to why I don't care for this belt. But I'm always looking at things for what they could be, or how they could be used as something completely different. ... Anna
It's hard to believe, but my baby sister graduated from high school this weekend. Being the only girls out of 7 children, Anna and I have learned to stick together, and have always been there for each other... despite our 10 year age difference. She's finally old enough that we can share clothes and make-up tips, talk about boys, etc. I should probably add that I'm getting old enough that her ... [ Read More ]
Mary J’s Backsplash
Mary and her husband decided it was time. Time for the kitchen to be resurrected from the dead. And during the process, they learned how many things can go wrong with kitchen remodels and hiring subcontractors (and they weren't even replacing cabinets!). But the results are always worth it... even if it means painting your walls 5 times before you find the color you want. The one thing that ... [ Read More ]
To say, or not to say
My cousin Alyssa referred me to a great blog, written by a woman facing similar issues as I with regards to infertility. I found it very comforting to read some of the things she has gone through and how she is able to cope. Many people don't know what to say, so they either say nothing, or they say something very hurtful without even knowing it. Below is an excerpt from her blog. I found it to be ... [ Read More ]
Indeed a LAB
There was a period of time that we thought our boy Reuben might be part Chesapeake, based on his course, light colored, somewhat curly hair. We entertained this idea, right up until Reuben started looking like this.It was at this point we realized it's just his nasty winter hair falling out... only to reveal a very shiny, chocolate lab coat under all the nastiness. But until then, he looks ... It’s about time
Tonight, we're enjoying the relaxing beauty of our homestead as well as the beginning of a 3-day-weekend. It feels amazing just to take a deep breath and know that, for the next 3 days, I don't have to book appointments for vasectomies, feed horses in the pouring rain, or sleep on a couch in a strange house counting how many times an elderly man uses the toilet in an hour. ... Infested
I'm not sure what is attracting them, but a plague of June Bugs has taken over our garage and the general surrounding area. Typically bugs don't bother me (exception: CRICKETS... but that's another story for another day) but these massive beetles are everywhere! They buzz past your ears, get stuck in your hair... and they love Reuben's water bowl.Hope you're not eating. ... [ Read More ]
Heather’s Backsplash
Now that we're painting so many backsplashes these days, I have every intention of being more selective about which ones I blog about. I don't want to bore ya'll!!But I had to share Heather's backsplash. It was a tough decision for them, with so many color options to choose from, but they opted for this fun tumbled travertine look... and I'm glad they did!Painting backsplashes are very ... Blew the Budget
I've decided to start a series of blog postings about my favorite things! Though Nick and I are careful with our pennies, I find myself noticing things around the house that I absolutely LOVE, and feel the need to share with my loyal blog followers.Nick and I have an unofficial collection of mugs, most of which are obnoxious Christmas mugs. But my favorite mug of all is this adorable orangey leafy ... [ Read More ]
Wine Headboard
We just finished crafting this sweet wine headboard. Because of the upholstery tacks, it took far longer than we planned, but felt the results were well worth it! ... [ Read More ]
