An unlikely pair…

March 28, 2013 by Bethany Sy

Lately, we’ve started noticing an unlikely friendship between our dog Reuben, and our kitty Gladys.

P3211705

Let’s just say they snuggle A LOT.

P3261794

At first, we thought they were sharing body heat out of pure necessity during some of the colder winter days. But now we’re beginning to realize… they’re just BFF’s.

P3271807

All these pictures were taken from inside the house, because Gladys is a really nervous jumpy kitty. Also going outside would require putting pants on.

P3271802

A friend came over the other day, and when she came in the house she said… ‘ummm, I think your kitty was curled up ON TOP of your dog’. And I said ‘YES, that is very likely’.

P3271799

This one is my personal favorite.

And a side shot.

P.S. we have a batch of kittens that will be ready for adoption the first week in May. If you’re in Iowa and are interested in one, email us at sawdustandembryos@gmail.com… please no hate mail from animal activists for our irresponsible animal ownership.Bethany {Sawdust and Embryos}

Awww how sweet! Our dog wants to play, the cats don’t. They tolerate him but won’t cuddle like this. I wish they would, how cute yours look! 🙂

My mom has a dog that loves the kitties so much that she winds up curled up in the baby box with them–and the momma cat doesn’t care a whit. –p.s.–we also have baby kitties. They were born in our bed 2 nights ago. Major ick.

Nope… we live on an acreage, and our animals are outdoors. Fear not, for they do have access to shelter.

That is so cute. Leave it to a cat to figure out how to find a warm place to lie down. Your dog must be really mild mannered too.

That is so adorable. My shih-tzu does the same thing with my cat, who was a kitten when I got him-she became a surrogate mother to him.

Adorable! One of our kitties loves our dog, but the other is constantly beating him up and chasing him around the house. Our 50-pound pointer-beagle mix doesn’t seem to know he’s supposed to be the boss!

I wish my pets would do this! 2 dogs and 3 cats and none of them even get near each other… oh yeah, and the dogs want to eat the cats.
