So, I’ve never been a dog person. We only had cats growing up, so I never developed special feelings for dogs. But what better time to get a pup than when moving to an acreage?! I figured, if I had my own dog, I would be crazy about him and wonder why I’d been a cat person for all these years! AND, he’ll be such a happy little pooch with all this yard to run freely. Right? RIGHT?!
Well, my friend Reuben has proven to be quite the challenge. He’s adorable and we love him, but… wow. He’s wild and hyper, doesn’t listen, brings us dead snakes, and drags all kinds of trash onto our front porch. Trash that we didn’t even know exists. Trash that must have come from the neighbor’s burn pile down the road. We’ll find a pair of jeans ripped to shreds, or beer cans, or things that cannot be identified. But look at that face… can’t help but love the little beast.
This weekend, we decided to put in a doggie door on our garage so that we won’t need to leave the garage door cracked anymore, and so Reuben and the kitties can have access to their luxurious and partially insulated garage… now that it’s getting a little more brisk outdoors. Please enjoy the slideshow.
In all reality, we love Reuben, and look forward to the day when he’s about 5 years old. It would probably help if we had some knowledge of how to train an unruly baby dog. Then again, it might help matters when we have some unnecessary software deleted from between his legs in a couple weeks. We’ll keep you posted!
Reub! He’s gotten HUGE, but is still as adorable as ever!
