For awhile there, we were on a roll with beige and brown. This is all well and good if you’re one to change wall colors and accent colors often. And/or, if you just prefer neutral colors. But we have to admit that we love when someone is brave and funky… and Andrea is just that!! She and her family recently bought a beautiful OLD house with tons of character, and you can tell they’re having a blast putting their mark on it. She’s got these fantastic original ‘apple’ paintings in her kitchen, and asked us to use them as inspiration for the backsplash.
And here’s the kitchen, sporting it’s ‘blank slate’ look.
And here it is after we threw some paint around the kitchen.
We kept a base of gray/charcoal to ground it, but threw in splashes of greens and blues to highlight some of the prominent colors in the Apple Paintings. We chose not to use ALL the colors in the painting because we wanted to avoid a “rainbow effect,” and because Andrea already has red accents in her kitchen in the form of small appliances, towels, etc.
It’s it an amazing improvement to the stark white sterile-ness of it’s previous self? We vote yes.
GORGEOUS! I love those apple paintings too!
Another job well done!!!!! Your color choices look spectacular with the black countertops.
