It’s been a minute since I’ve done a crafty craft with my kids. They are all creative in their own ways, but it can be hard to find a project that everyone truly enjoys… especially now that they’re getting older.
I fully expected my 13-year-olds to reject this fun, but they were totally into it!

I think we can all collectively agree that we should print and display more family pics. So picture frames with a personalized flare was the perfect family project idea! I started out by grabbing some unfinished wooden picture frames at Hobby Lobby. These were seriously just a couple bucks! (they also have a ton to choose from on Amazon)

If you have younger kids, you could just let them color on the wood or use watercolor paints, and then seal it with a coat of spray sealant afterwards. But since my kids are older and I have some wooden pieces leftover from this project and and others, it was just too perfect! I purchased the wooden half-circles and scrabble pieces on Amazon.

The kids got started by choosing how they want to lay out their design, and then painting, staining, or coloring some of their wood pieces/frames. Don’t worry! We laid down parchment paper on the counter to protect the surface. You wouldn’t believe the projects that go down in this kitchen!

There’s something to say about an adhesive that’s so easy to use, you can trust your kids with it! DAP’s Weldwood Fast-Curing Wood Adhesive gets used allll the time around this house. So much so that I keep it handy in the kitchen junk drawer!
My favorite feature about it is that, after gluing, you still have 30 seconds to reposition if you need to! This came in handy on multiple occasions with this project.

I love how solid these picture frames are, and that the kiddos will have more pictures to display in their bedrooms! Also, there’s a certain confidence that comes from being surrounded by things you made and are proud of. Ask me how I know! 😉

I hope you enjoyed this project, and feel inspired to go do something creative! As always, if you try one of our tutorials, please share pics with us by tagging @RealityDaydream on Instagram or Facebook!
