Fun weekend… Sad ending

April 12, 2011 by Bethany Sy

We spend a fun-filled weekend in St. Paul, MN spending time with old friends and siblings, painting backsplashes and swimming at our hotel. And after the 4 hour drive home, we were approaching our house when we saw someone's hazzard lights blinking in the ditch. It was dark, and but we could tell the vehicle was upside down. My first instinct was that, since the hazards were on, it was probably an ... [ Read More ]

Pure Nonsense

March 15, 2011 by Bethany Sy

I'm not gonna lie, I'm kinda down in the dumps today. Largely because I'm not scheduled to work at the clinic ALL WEEK, and I don't have any babies to play with during that time. I do however have a nursery to beautify, and it's not going well. I messed up big time yesterday. And I'm still sulking about it... and therefore, won't be showing any pictures of my mishap.I will however be amending the ... [ Read More ]

Discussion Topic: Must Have’s

March 11, 2011 by Bethany Sy

Or last "discussion topic" was wildly successful and provided us with tons of advice, suggestions, and resources for all things diapers. I have to admit, we haven't come to a firm decision on the matter... but we've been doing lots of research on some of the suggested websites/blogs. Knowing our ladies will likely be on the smaller side when they arrive, we'll be using disposables for the first ... [ Read More ]

Thanksgiving Happenings

November 29, 2010 by Bethany Sy

We went to see Nick's side of the family on Thursday and Friday.I ate entirely too much.I went Black Friday shopping for the first time ever. It's true, I was a Black Friday virgin. It was a crazy crazy experience. I only thought I was going to die once. I purchased one Christmas gift... for $10.What's worse than having explosive diarrhea at your in-laws on Thanksgiving day? Try having the only ... [ Read More ]

A Button For You

November 22, 2010 by Bethany Sy

Soooo... ok.I don't work today, and I'm feeling quite lazy. The more projects I'm in the middle of, the less likely I am to be productive. It's an epic problem in my life. I will tell you that we're soon to finish up two matching dressers (that took us a LOT longer than we anticipated), and we have a couple china cabinets that we're super excited to get started on! The ... [ Read More ]

Things are getting heated…

November 8, 2010 by Bethany Sy

This weekend, we didn't schedule any backsplashes in the interest of insulating and drywalling the garage. Rumor has it, this is the last nice weekend before Iowa's typical subzero snowy mess sets in, so there's no time to waste!Having finished the walls in the evenings last week, the ceiling was all that remained... the hardest part!Brother Tim came down for the day to lend a hand and help things ... Shaking things up

October 18, 2010 by Bethany Sy

Are you a creature of habit? Do you lose all control when life gets out of sync? Well you might be sadly disappointed when you realize that today's post is NOT featuring our latest backsplash. But instead a mural!Brenda had seen some inspiration murals from a previous post, and fell in love with one in particular. She couldn't get it off her mind, so she enlisted us to come to her house, and shake ... [ Read More ]

The one that started it all

September 27, 2010 by Bethany Sy

Due to a miscommunication, we didn't paint a backsplash this weekend. So I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to share the story about how the backsplash painting came about. Because... it never fails: every time we paint a backsplash, the homeowner asks how we got started painting backsplashes to look like tile. And I think the hubs is getting sick of hearing this story.I was living in ... [ Read More ]

Selfish Me

September 9, 2010 by Bethany Sy

Sometimes, I like to think of myself as a strong, confident, and independent woman. But the fact of the matter is, I'm none of the above. I wish that I could say I deal with disappointment and tragedy with grace and style... but the truth? I'm a sad little pouting girl, crying until I burst a blood-vessel in my face. I get mad at God, infuriated by pregnant women, and hostile toward innocent small ... [ Read More ]

Alice’s Backplash

August 30, 2010 by Bethany Sy

Alice and her hubs have been doing some updating to their home, and lucky for us, that included a brand new painted backsplash!! In fact, they tore out actual tile for us to custom paint it to their specifications! Granted, the previous tile was old sterile-white ceramic tile, probably original to the house.Alice opted for a light neutral look, with a darker beige grout. It provides a subtle, yet ...
