Rick & Amy’s Backsplash

January 31, 2011 by Bethany Sy

Rick and Amy invited us over to their beautiful home to do our thing on their backsplash. Their kitchen was already great to begin with, but the backsplash really gives it something extra!

It’s hard to pick out the colors in the pictures, but they went with a warm color palate of browns, burnt orange and gold. It really made the cabinets pop, and highlighted their decor!

Thanks Rick and Amy!

anne, i would say there’s definitely a difference in kitchen design between America and Scandinavian kitchens. Americans tend toward the classic/traditional style with wood tones etc. Scandinavian designs are more modern and funky with clean lines, often without the upper cabinets. we don’t consider our ‘traditional’ style to be ‘antique’ necessarily, unless the cabinets have been purposefully distressed to look old, which you will find from time to time in American design.

I really love your work. I have one question though. When I see the pictures, the kitchens seem very simular. Dark wood/veneer in an antique look. Here in Denmark, we do a very minimalistic, northern style.
Would you say that the Antique look is very american or is it just a coincidense.
    Regards Anne
