In case you need a good laugh (and I suspect you do), please enjoy the following pictures of Reuben wearing his protective 'dog cone.' I laugh hysterically at him and think of it as sweet revenge for chewing up the AC wires and costing us $245, not to mention him accosting the AC fix-it man. I'd like to say we got the cone specifically to torture him for causing us all the grief that he has, but ... [ Read More ]
My Birthday
Yesterday, July 3rd, was my 28th birthday... and my sweet sweet husband took it upon himself to make it a great one!! He awoke early to bake me my favorite cake: Confetti Cake! It was the first cake he's ever baked... EVER. And it was complete with 28 candles! We ate it for breakfast with coffee. Ain't nothing better. We then headed up to NE Iowa to meet up with my familia at their campground to ... [ Read More ]
Mural Eye Candy
First off, it's my Birthday. Second, I wanted to share how... sometimes when I'm getting ready to do a project, I'll flip through magazines or Google stock photos for inspiration. Below are some of my favorite mural photos that are getting me psyched for something I'm going to do in the kitchen... only far more subtle! Maybe some of these will make your heart pitter-patter and inspire you to ... [ Read More ]

Mag Rack
Awhile back, my mom bought me this sweet magazine rack at a garage sale. I love it. I've tried it out in every room in our house, because I just like to look at it. I also like to store our magazines in it. For a brief moment, I thought about painting it... until Nick threatened to tie me to a tree and flog me. Them menfolk love their natural wood! ...hmmm. Don't read too far into ... [ Read More ]
Sometimes the Dryer Breaks
It happens, dryers stop drying... or turning in this case. We strung our clothes out all over the house to allow them to dry. Maybe this country girl needs a clothesline!Luckily, my better half is handy in countless ways. He tore apart the dryer, replaced the broken belt, and now it works swimmingly. The girls claimed a pile of dirty clothes, and kept their daddy company. ... [ Read More ]
Floral Decorative Thingy
Last week, on my lunch break, I went thrifting. It was... well let's just say it was super fun. Finding awesome stuff and ridiculously low prices is gratifying to me in a way that I can't explain. And so I shant. I bought this weird floral wall-hanging thing. I almost didn't buy it, because $4.99 seemed a little pricy to me. But I just couldn't help but see the good in her, and all the things I ... [ Read More ]
Milk
Some of you may remember my cry for help with regards to my milk dilemma. Living in the country, I've learned to freeze tons of stuff in order to limit the number of trips into town. But I just wasn't sure if you could freeze milk, and/or if there was a right or wrong way to go about it. After posing this question, I got a flood of emails with advice. So I took the plunge. I just used a little ... [ Read More ]
Robyn’s Backplash
With two backsplashes to paint in the same neighborhood, we decided to make a weekend of it and had a total blast painting next-door-neighbors, Robyn's and Ann's backplashes! Robyn was envisioning dark browns and chocolates, and just let us go to town! Nick has his measuring down to an art... and we've got a system down that allows us to punch these babies out in 2 1/2 - 3 hours!Robyn's kitchen ... [ Read More ]
Ann’s Backsplash
Ann is the daughter of Stan and Sue, and also has an amazing house... with a very creative and funky vibe. We loved her design style and the fact that she wanted to be wild with the painting of her backplash! She has a green/blue thing going on in her kitchen and dining room, and wanted us to use these pieces as inspiration. And she, literally, wanted a green and blue backsplash. FUN! So the ...
